(AP) ? A contrite Jim Boeheim apologized again Friday night after another big victory.

The beleaguered Syracuse basketball coach said he had talked to some people in the community and wanted to make three points clear after the No. 4 Orange defeated No. 10 Florida, 72-68.

"I believe I misspoke very badly in my response to the allegations that have been made. I shouldn't have questioned what the accusers expressed or their motives. I am really sorry that I did that, and I regret any harm that I caused," he said.

"It was insensitive for the individuals involved and especially to the overall issue of child abuse."

He also said it was important that he get involved in terms of raising awareness.

"They need to get the message out," he said. "I'm going to do everything I can to do that, whether I'm coaching or not coaching."

This was the second game since the firing of longtime associate head coach Bernie Fine, who has been accused by three men ? including two former Syracuse ballboys ? of molesting them as minors.

Fine, who was fired Sunday, has denied the allegations.

On the bench Friday, as Syracuse remained unbeaten, Boeheim maintained a stoic facade amid the intense federal investigation into his program. Behind the postgame microphone, though, was a different story.

Just as he was in Tuesday's home win over Eastern Michigan, Boeheim was greeted by a nice ovation when he was introduced to a crowd of 24,459. It was the largest on-campus attendance in the nation so far this season, and it included former Syracuse star Carmelo Anthony and former Orange assistant Rob Murphy, in his first year at EMU, in front-row seats.

Syracuse (8-0) breezed to its first seven wins with an average margin of victory of 26 points, but the Gators (5-2), whose only previous loss was by seven at No. 2 Ohio State, figured to provide a stiff challenge and they did in a game that seemed like a midseason encounter in the Big East.

But, once again, the game was secondary on the first Friday of December.

Some sex abuse victims' advocates have said Boeheim should resign or be fired after the accusations, as well as Boeheim's disparaging comments regarding the accusers in defense of his longtime friend.

After initially saying Fine's first two accusers were lying to make money in the wake of the Penn State sex abuse scandal, Boeheim backed off those comments in a statement after Fine's firing was announced Sunday.

Two days later, Syracuse University Chancellor Nancy Cantor supported Boeheim's new stance.

"Coach Boeheim is our coach. ... We're very pleased with what he said Sunday night, and we stand by it."

Boeheim, in his 36th season as head coach, said after Tuesday night's game that he's never been worried about his job throughout his tenure at his alma mater and has not considered resigning.

"When the investigation is done, we will find out what happened on my watch," Boeheim said. "We don't know what's happened on my watch right now."

Meanwhile, federal authorities have searched coaches' and player's lockers in the Carmelo K. Anthony Basketball Center. Authorities declined to say what they were looking for.

Fine's office on campus was searched Tuesday morning, and his suburban home was searched last Friday. The U.S. Attorney's office in northern New York, which is leading the investigation, has not said what it sought or found.

Earlier Thursday, Cantor said the school decided to fire Fine upon hearing an audiotape recorded by Bobby Davis, one of Fine's accusers. ESPN broadcast the 2002 audiotape, recorded by Davis, of a conversation between Davis and a woman ESPN identified as Fine's wife, Laurie, in which she says she knew "everything that went on."

Cantor's comments were in a published response to a USA Today editorial Thursday that calls on Syracuse to release a "full accounting" of what it did and why Fine was kept on the job.

The controversy continues to swirl around those most closely associated with the program.

"It's been crazy," said Matt Roe, a Syracuse star from the late 1980s who does color on radio broadcasts. "Nonstop for 14 days. What am I going to say? I don't know anything. (Boeheim) is a good man."

Judging by the reaction of the crowd and the jammed student section ? two signs were held aloft often that read: "In Boeheim we trust" and "In Jim we trust" ? Boeheim continues to enjoy wide support.

"I think the press and everybody else just wants a story," said Bob Sawken of Vestal, N.Y. "They don't know if anyone's guilty or innocent. They want a story and no answers. (Boeheim's) been a longtime friend.

"I don't see a reason why he wouldn't see that."

Boeheim's spot on the coaching staff of the U.S. basketball team remains secure, though the U.S. Olympic Committee is monitoring the investigation of Fine. Boeheim is the top assistant to Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski on the team that will play at the 2012 London Olympics.

Against the Gators, Boeheim's players responded again.

Brandon Triche had 20 points and Scoop Jardine finished with 16 and seven assists for the Orange. Kenny Boynton led Florida with 22 points and Erving Walker had 17.

Neither team led by more than six points in a first half that was tied six times.

Florida, which entered the game shooting 42.9 percent from beyond the arc and was averaging 12 3-pointers a game, went 3 of 14 from long range in the period ? all by Erving Walker ? while the Orange struggled even more, hitting just 1 of 10.

Syracuse still managed to forge ahead at the break, 31-27, behind seven points each from Kris Joseph, Fab Melo and Triche.

After the Orange built a 39-30 lead early in the second, Boynton led the Gators back with three 3s, the last putting Florida back on top 49-46 with 9:19 to go. Triche tied it for the fourth time in the period 11 seconds later with his first 3 of the game.

Jardine fed Joseph for a one-handed slam to break the tie and Jardine's steal and layup had the Orange up 54-49 with 6:20 to go and the crowd shaking the Carrier Dome.

The roar reached another crescendo when Jardine hit a runner in the lane as the shot clock neared zero, Joseph fed C.J. Fair for a baseline jumper, and Jardine hit a 3 from the left wing in a span of 2:19.

That gave Syracuse a 61-53 lead with 3:52 left and the Gators couldn't rally back.

The Best Package Tracker for Android [Android App Directory]

The Best Package Tracker for AndroidThere are so many package tracking applications available for Android that there's no way we could highlight them all, but after testing several, we think Parcels delivers the right package of useful features for the price tag?free. You still have to enter your tracking numbers manually, but where other apps may have more gimmicky features, Parcels is clean, to the point, notifies you of changes, and gets the job done.

The Best Package Tracker for Android

  • Supports dozens of shipping services, including the major ones in North America and the UK
  • Supports background notifications of changes in package status
  • Allows you to track multiple packages at once, labeled and color coded for easy reference, and marked with icons for in-transit and delivered
  • Displays package status in an all-in-one view, tap any package to see detailed status and scan history
  • Can display package status and history on a Google Map so you can see where it has been
  • Can shift from an in-app status display to the carrier's web page, complete with current status of your packages
  • Can be set to automatically delete delivered packages after a set time, and removes completed packages from the notifications list

The Best Package Tracker for Android

Parcels' may not have the UI flair that some of its iOS counterparts do, but what it lacks in design it makes up for in functionality. You do have to enter your tracking numbers manually (the developer recently removed the requirement that you link the app with your Google account for shipping notifications), but once you do you can see package status at any time on one screen. You can drill down to see all of the updates from the carrier, check the package's progress on a Google Map, or jump over to the carrier's web site to see detail the app may not have picked up, all without having to re-enter the tracking number. Best of all, Parcels does all of this for free, ad-free. There is a donationware version of the app that will set you back just over $4 USD if you want to contribute to the app's development.

The Best Package Tracker for Android

The major downside to Parcels is that you have to enter each of your tracking numbers in manually. Other package tracking apps have found various ways to get around that (more on this later), but as it stands, you'll have to copy and paste from your shipping email into the app, or type it in while looking at another screen. Also, one of the app's drawbacks is that it doesn't support the wide variety of shipping carriers that some of its competition does. Where other apps boast hundreds of services, Parcel has a few dozen?that's a drawback for some international users, but most people will find their carrier supported, especially in North America and Europe. Plus, the developer is open to adding more carriers, and invites users to email or comment on the project page to help him choose which ones make it into each update.

The Best Package Tracker for Android

Package Buddy (Free, ad supported/$1.99 to remove ads) is another robust package tracking tool for Android, and while it supports more carriers and shippers than Parcels, the UI is a bit more difficult to read and the app offers virtually the same features, only ad-supported. You'll have to shell out a few bucks to remove the ads. Package Buddy tries to get around the need to enter your tracking number manually by giving you a web site you can visit to create QR codes for your tracking numbers, but frankly it's just as much work to create the QR code and then scan it into the app as it is to just type it in once. Plus, Package Buddy's automatic update was buddy in our tests, and we missed the background notifications Parcels offered.

TrackChecker (Free) is another great alternative. It too supports tons of international carriers, including many in eastern Europe, Russia, and Asia, so if you're reading from there, this might be a better option for you than some of the apps that focus on the western hemisphere. The downside however is that TrackChecker is a "just the facts" kind of tool. You enter you tracking numbers manually, and you get a list of all of the packages you entered. Icons with number indicators let you know if there have been any changes (there are no notifications) and if any of them occured since you last looked at the status.

Shiprack Package Tracker (Free, ad supported/$0.99 to remove ads) supports largely North American carriers, including some enterprise freight and delivery services. While it's lacking in supported carriers, Shiprack fixes the problem of entering tracking numbers very well. Simply forward your shipping notifications to Shiprack from your Google account, and the service associates your notification with your phone and displays the current status of that package in the application. If that sounds familiar, it's the same way apps like TripIt allow you to send all of your travel arrangements to one address, log in to your account, and see them together. Sadly, Shiprack doesn't allow you to enter tracking numbers manually even if you wanted to, so we have to ding them for that. Aside from that, the app does offer package history on a Google Map, and detailed package history via the carrier's mobile site.

Package Tracker Pro ($1.99) offers most of the features that the other utilities do?the only difference is that Package Tracker Pro costs money. For your two dollars, you get the ability to sync with a file full of tracking numbers on your computer, so you don't have to enter them into your phone manually, you get background notifications on your phone (complete with flashing LEDs), and the ability to organize and label your packages the way you prefer, or by carrier. There's also a Package Tracker Pro version for Android Tablets, so if you're comfortable spending money to track your packages, the app is worth a look?but there isn't much you get here over other free options.

Packetracer (Free, ad-supported/$1.72 to remove ads) is the app for you if you're looking for a utility that works across multiple platforms and have to have the same app on your iOS, Android, Blackberry, or WIndows Phone. Still, the app supports close to 200 carriers internationally, so it's a great option if you do a lot of international shipping. The carriers are organized by region, which can be a pain to switch between if you have to track a lot of packages in different places. Still, it's the app with the most supported carriers we could find. Plus, Packetracer gets around you having to enter tracking numbers manually (although you still have to) by allowing you to scan tracking numbers from your computer screen, or labels from your packages. The trouble with this though is that the app has a tendency to think something's a tracking number when it's not, and you have to know where the tracking information is on the label to scan it.

Video: Herman Cain ?reassessing? 2012 bid

>>> we begin on wednesday morning with herman cain reassessing his presidential campaign . nbc's senior investigative correspondent lisa myers has the latest on this.

>> good morning to you, matt. cain acknowledges the cascading allegations have taken an emotional and political toll. he says he'll spend the next few days reassessing. meanwhile he sent out a fund-raising appeal, attacking his latest accuser calling her a troubled woman with a fabricated story. herman cain predicted business as usual , in a foreign policy speech in michigan tuesday night. he made no reference to legislations by atlanta businesswoman ginger white that they'd had a 13-year affair. he did mention his wife.

>> i was sitting in my favorite chair in front of the tv next to the kitchen. she was in the kitchen preparing dinn dinner. what? that's what we do at our house on sunday. i sit in the easy chair and she prepares dinner! and there are days when i prepare the dinner, okay?

>> reporter: among this crowd, the latest allegations drew a mixed response.

>> it's 2011 . i mean, we've been there before with other presidents.

>> sometimes where there's smoke and there's lots of smoke, maybe there is a little fire brewing.

>> as his poll numbers went up after the initial fall, they bring out another lady, you know? come on, you guys.

>> reporter: as cain was speaking his campaign unleashed a new fund raising apeel, calling ginger white a troubled woman, whom cain has helped financially at times over the past few years.

>> i was aware that he was married, and i was also aware that i was involved in a very inappropriate situation, relationship.

>> reporter: white's lawyer, ed buckley, acknowledges that she's had financial and legal troubles, but says she's of good character and telling the truth.

>> these are embarrassing facts. a woman isn't going to come out and say something this embarrassing if it's not true.

>> reporter: earlier in the day, cain , for the first time, expressed doubts about his viability as a candidate. in a conference call with his staff, he vehemently denied having an affair, but said he was reassessing whether the allegations create too much of a cloud over his campaign. robert costa of "the national review " listened to the call.

>> really seemed like he was at the end of his line as a political candidate. the tone was somber. his voice was quiet, almost shaky.

>> reporter: cain told nbc news --

>> 9-9, 9, doing fine.

>> reporter: a potential beneficiary if cain quets, former speaker newt gingrich . he's had his own infidelity issues.

>> i think it's a very difficult situation for he and his family. my heart goes out to them. i hope he reaches whatever is the right decision for them.

>> some cain advisers say whether he's able to continue as a candidate will depend on how much money he raises in the next couple of days but many conservative voices are already writing him off, matt, saying he's simply too badly damaged to be a viable candidate.

>> lisa myers , thank you very

3 Americans arrested in Egypt back in US

All three American students arrested during protests in Cairo are back in the U.S., three days after an Egyptian court ordered their release.

The young men were arrested on the roof of a university building near Cairo's iconic Tahrir Square last Sunday after officials accused them of throwing firebombs at security forces fighting with protesters.

Gregory Porter, 19, was greeted by his parents and other relatives Saturday evening when he landed at Philadelphia International Airport. Porter took no questions, but said he was thankful for the help he and the other American students received from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo, administrators at the university they were attending, and attorneys in Egypt and the U.S.

"I'm just so thankful to be back, to be in Philadelphia right now," said Porter, who is from nearby Glenside, Pa., and attends Drexel University in Philadelphia.

Luke Gates, 21, arrived in the U.S. late Saturday and was expected back home in Indiana soon, Indiana University spokesman Mark Land said. Gates attends the university, and his parents have declined to talk with the media. Land said he spoke with Gates' father.

"He said he was doing very well and he was very excited to be on his way home," Land said. He added that Gates' parents are "really hopeful they can spend a little time with him without having to answer a lot of questions" in the media spotlight.

The mother of the third student, 19-year-old Derrik Sweeney, says she spoke with her son when he landed in Washington late Saturday before he boarded a flight to St. Louis.

All three left the Egyptian capital Saturday morning on separate connecting flights to Frankfurt, Germany, an airport official in Cairo said. The three were studying at the American University in Cairo.

Story: Egypt military woos public to keep power

In earlier developments, attorney Theodore Simon, who represents Porter, said police escorted the three students to the Cairo airport Friday. Simon later said his client was on a flight.

"I am pleased and thankful to report that Gregory Porter is in the air. He has departed Egyptian airspace and is on his way home," Simon said, though he declined to say when Porter was expected back in the U.S.

"He clearly conveyed to me ... that he was OK," Simon told the AP.

Gates is a student at Indiana University. It wasn't clear when he was expected back in the U.S.

Joy Sweeney told the AP her son, a 19-year-old Georgetown University student from Jefferson City, Missouri, would fly from Frankfurt to Washington, then on to St. Louis.

She said family will meet him when he arrives late Saturday.

"I am ecstatic," Sweeney said Friday. "I can't wait for him to get home tomorrow night. I can't believe he's actually going to get on a plane. It is so wonderful."

Sweeney said she had talked with her son Friday afternoon and "he seemed jubilant."

"He thought he was going to be able to go back to his dorm room and get his stuff," she said. "We said, 'No, no, don't get your stuff, we just want you here.'"

She said the American University in Cairo will ship his belongings home.

Sweeney had earlier said she did not prepare a Thanksgiving celebration this week because the idea seemed "absolutely irrelevant" while her son still was being held.

"I'm getting ready to head out and buy turkey and stuffing and all the good fixings so that we can make a good Thanksgiving dinner," she said Friday.
