Self Improvement & Memory Training: On The Finish Line

Knowing what to do in time of adversity is the first step towards victory in life's battles. The Bible informs us that it's not the beginning of something that really matters but how it ends. In essence, the conclusion should be drawn . Many people start well yet can't finish well. Such experience and examples are around us every day. Life is a journey and every Christian and non-Christian takes this journey. The final earthly destination is death (the grave).

The road you travel on, how you travel, and with whom you travel will determine your position . The critical elements of the journey of faith are (A) Knowledge - of the will of God and the devices of the devil against you (B) Understanding - having proper perspective of the challenges that confront you each day (C) Patience - the grace to carry on in the face of success or failures and (D) Steadfastness - remaining calm and settled with your focus set .

The scripture reminds us that there's a great cloud of witnesses around us each passing day. I see this great cloud as humans, angels, circumstances and demons. All these have impact on our finish line. Over the years many have started out well, living for the Lord but unfortunately they have fallen away never to come back. We must know that how we begin can impact the end but in reality, it never justifies the end. See Hebrews 12:1-3.

To finish well, we must stay the course and travel light with no undue burdens. Here are three keys that can make you a champion .

1) You must be totally focused on running the race.

You can't achieve success unless you can see it from where you are. It's written, "Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God" (Hebrews 12:2, KJV). Jesus knows our end from our beginning. Therefore, it's of a necessity that our hope and trust be placed in him.

We've so much going on in our future if we can see the finish line and forget about yesterdays' "could nots, would nots, can nots and do nots." Focus on finishing well, on your healing, on your deliverance, and on your success with God's help. The spirit of winning is ignited when we can see ourselves .

2) Let Jesus Christ be your example.

As much as we can, be a blessing and benefit to one another, it's absolutely necessary that our trust be on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said, "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7, KJV). Philippians 4:13 tells us that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

The things behind us have taken their course and effect already. How we see and handle them now is consequential . You can draw strength and hope in Christ or you can wallow in your defeat, set-backs, and unfortunate past. The choice is yours.

3) Guard your thoughts.

If you ever thought of winning, you must begin to think and act like a winner. When you walk in victory in your thought life, you'll be victorious in your daily life. As I said in my book, "My Mind, Lord," your thoughts go before your actions. The seeds of thoughts you sow will produce its kind.

We're born again for victory not defeat. Our various trials have many solutions if we're living for Christ. "Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all"(Psalms 34:19).

Set your eyes and he that has gone before you will grant you the grace and the desires of your heart. For more uplifting articles follow the link below.
